Free education is more worth fighting for than ever before: clearly, the costs of marketised education are going to keep going up and up if we keep accepting it at all.
Questions:
ReplyDeleteDoes 'all students' include those from abroad? Because they already pay full fees for their tuition. Only those who can afford it come here, and once they have got their education from us they are free to go home without their skills benefiting our economy, and without ever paying real tax here. Subsidising them would be unfair. n.b. I am not being BNP here, I just reckon that if you get given a free ride you ought to pay it back.
How will scrapping fees be funded? Oh, don't tell me, tax the rich...
I'm with Tory Dan on raising the cap to 7,000 a year, meaning that science students and medics are subsidised by people doing humanities for a lark like me. Much more just. That way if you wanna do something useless for 3 years you gotta pay for it, if you want to make a proper difference in the world you get an excellent deal :)
